Ascension adds one skill and relic slot, so it increases the possible unlocks. That means, that higher rarity titans can unlock more skills.
The number of skill slots that a titan has (they don't have to be unlocked) are the number of possible unlocks. Each titan has a certain chance to unlock/level a relic/skill, depending on rarity and ascension. *Skill or relic slots highlighted in blue have a chance to unlock, they are not guaranteed. 3)A chance to unlock an additional relic slot. 2)A chance to unlock an additional skill.
