I finally found this solution as I noticed that Google Chrome had no sound either and that was where I noticed this fix. Check if the sound is muted and if so, unmute. GTA V needs to be running or it won’t appear.

Worked (for me): as per the video, right mouse on the audio icon in the bottom toolbar, open up the ‘Volume Mixer’ menu.
